There are 2 groups of Polyphosphates:

• One is for exclusive DOMESTIC (NON-FOOD) use. With anti-corrosion and anti-scale protection functions for washing machines and dishwashers. For example, our housing with Polyphosphate crystals for boilers & washing machines "CAR-WMF".

• The other one is FOOD grade: ideal for filters for drinking water. The filters with polyphosphates food-use can also be used for coffee machines, because they have an anti-scale and microfiltration action. (For example our new OCS2 Polyphosphates Everpure filter "CA9618-0CS2" and polyphosphates "CA-5/15POL" that can be insert into our housings CAR3014T, CAR3014W, CAR3013, CAR3008, CAR3008/2.

Polyphosphates dissolved in water for heating have a dual action:
1. an anti-scaling action. They prevent that calcium and magnesium bicarbonates dissolved in water become insoluble carbonates.
2. Anti-corrosion, coating the tubing walls, with a thin protective film that prevents to come into contact with oxygen or carbon dioxide dissolved in water , that are the major causes of corrosion.
Polyphosphates also tend to descale the pipes and boyler previously formed from limestone. These effects are hightest when the value of pH water is between 6 and 7. Warnings: the action of polyphosphates descaling action reduces gradually when the water is brought to temperatures above 80° C up to stop around 100° C.

Polyphosphate:
Generally, polyphosphate feeders are effective in low volume, cold water applications.
The polyphosphate dissolves into the water and coats the iron, calcium and magnesium in it, making it impossible for these agents to precipitate out of the water and create the problems associated with hard water.

Polyphosphate crystals are placed within a housing and as water flows through it, the crystals dissolve.
Polyphosphate dosing systems comprise of a cartridge of phosphate held in a container
that is fitted to the plumbing system.
Water passing through the cartridge is dosed with small quantities of phosphate which softens the water.

These Polyphosphate filters are effective for relatively small quantities of water, and are commonly used in low volume applications such as washing machines, water boiler, etc.
